Servitor
Sic transit gloria mundi : so passes away worldly glory.
Prompt
Generations of the same family serve you. This line starts from any living mortal Character or from the descendants of a dead mortal Character. What bizarre rituals do they tie to their servitude? Lose a Resource and create a Servitors of the Lineage Resource.
I recognized Rolant's carriage instantly. I was so happy. He finally came to visit me.
But when he exited, he escorted a veiled woman. I met him in the Foyer -- he saw me, I know he did, but his glance only snagged for a second. My lesions have grown darker and more pronounced, and I swear I saw him flinch.
He handed the woman he was escorting -- his wife? his lover? -- to Jeanne Marie, the head of the Manor. She accepted the woman gracefully. They had the rhythm of people who have danced this dance before.
I was such a fool.
The woman's name was Marie-Claude. She spoke more softly than I do. She bled so brightly. Amidst the gore, she gave birth to a healthy daughter, Vivienne.
I buried Marie-Claude by the roses. It felt like I should. I held Vivienne as she wailed for a mother she never met.
Vivienne grew up so fast. She reminded me of my younger self: fascinated by all things anatomical, the machinations of this world and its inhabitants. She was inoculated to my disfigurement, and never shied from the stare. She dreamed a world beyond the manor grounds. How could I deny her that which I had been unwilling to forgo?
Such a loyal servant. She tattooed her body to imitate my lesions. And when she died, her son did the same.
