A trade route opened between France and the Far East. The streets are suddenly awash in colour: new pigments flood our dreary shores.
I taught my Servitors to sew. They bring these bright textiles together in ways that evoke the gloaming, the blood, the lambent waves. With the right designs, I can move about the city at night without people noticing my condition: the new pigments make gem tones in fabric and make up that make me look almost lively. I've designed doctor's uniforms that remind me of the lavender in my mask.
The designs have caught the attention of some of the nobles. I make honest money, but that's not why I do it. I tire of these bland humans and their fragile forms. I wish to embellish them, if only for my own pleasure. I remember finding their anatomy elegant, a riddle to solve. Now I find it menial, something to adorn or consume.
