You can never go home

ex vita discedo, tanquam ex hospitio, non tanquam ex domo: I depart from life as from an inn, not as from home

Prompt
You destroy something important to you in a purposeless rage. Lose a precious Memory or destroy a Resource.

I heard reports from a patron of a strange illness in my hometown. Was He back? Was Pestilence looking for me?
I took a fine carriage to my father's estate. Part of me expected it to be how I left it -- everything had changed. The front door had had a beautiful woodland scene engraved into it-- as a child I would tell my father stories about the creatures in the door. The new door was bland. Vulgar as their pale anatomy. It was easy to rip from its hinges.
I don't remember the rest. There was blood, a wasteful amount sprayed on the oil paintings that lined the hall.
The library had been retrofitted in the modern style. I tore each shelf from the wall, threw them through the leaded windows. I would have dug it up from the foundation if I had had the time -- but the sun was rising, and I needed to find shelter. There were too many holes in this home for it to keep me safe.
I left quietly. I felt an ache where shame should be, but those were the thoughts of another woman. A noble. A daughter. I don't know her anymore.
